Today there was...



Hi,everybody!
Today was last day for preparin' of closin' ceremony for tomorrow.Each house has finished their action...how will they come out???I don't know.
Today,of course,it was funny and exciting on every classes...for example, on Wonders of America our house(Camencrane) has played Twister...it was awesome.
And the password for today was All is well that ends well.

NATE XVII and Access

Our campers asked us about the teachers that left for Kaliningrad.
Teachers and professors of English from the whole Russia  gather every year in various cities to discuss urgent issues of teaching and learning English.

Rehearsal and More...

During their second teamtime the campers were busy with their future closing ceremony.

Some campers that were reluctant to join the House were stopped and asked to tell me about their likes and dislikes, about the names of the subjects, decription of the pictures about space, etc.

NASA Representative: Q&A and Concert

Patrick showed the film about the space station and then answered the campers' questions about his family, aliens, Moon, space, astronauts, solar systems, etc. The kids got some souvenirs for their questions.

Afterwards the campers enjoyed the concert. The atmosphere was friendly, each House was supported by dances, applause and smiles!

After the concert Patrick presented a calender  to each House.

He advised the campers to work hard and respect their teachers,  to  think about their careers and choice of colleges.

NASA Representative at Narn-Sun

The Summer Camp have got aquainted with the NASA Russia Representative.
This visit was also connected with the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight and Roscosmos.

The lining-up met Mr. Patrick Buzzard from the USA Embassy in Moscow. The campers greeted Patrick and our Headmaster Vasili Ivanovich with their mottoes and chants.

Open Days for Teachers. Day 2

The workshop:
Report 1: "The problems of education and its future". I had thought it was too academic, but while listening I was amazed by the creative introduction of the ideas.

Report 2: "How to become a boring teacher". A rather funny interpretation of crucial points of this methodology!
Report 3: Governing principles of assessment of young learners" (based on the experience)

Report 4: "Introducing the teacher-made board game "Wonders of America". Using templates for creating ESL/EFL games

Report 5: "Access Orlyonok experience". Impressions of working in the camp with the Access schoolchildren.

In the morning our guest teachers went around the classrooms and talked to the campers who described their life at this unusual camp.

Open Days for Teachers. Day 1

Professional Development Workshop 
"Moving Forwards: New EFL Teaching Techniques"

The Access School teachers shared their experience on Google Documents, art of creating PowerPoint presentations and using songs.

Report 1: What experience do teachers have? How do teachers share their experience? How could Google Apps(applications) help teachers contribute? What types of Google Docs (as one of Google Apps) are there?

Report 2: Fulbrighter Katherine D. discussed the ways to use songs in teaching grammar, vocabulary, fluency, writing, content and culture.

Report 3: Art of creating and delivering presentaions, Japanese method of Pecha Kucha

Report 4: The results of the contest "My Native Place" were announced. We also watched two best PowerPoint presentations prepared by the countryside teachers of English and their pupils.

Today was the last day when our Katherine.We'll remember all days spendin' with her...
She is so active and amazing person...And with her tenacity and perseverance she achieve many things that she'll wish.

The whole camp said goodbye to our dearest Professor Katherine D.!

She will be remembered for her brilliant lessons on Wonders of America.

She has been so enthusiastic about preparing Aquilori for different activities!

Tri Wizard Tournament. Round 1

Spelling Bee
 3 Spelling Rounds with 5 words in each for five wizards from the five Houses. The words had been borrowed from the lessons in the Summer Camp.

To support the five contestans the campers sang songs and shouted the thundering cheers and mottoes.
The song was about the Summer Camp "From East to West our camp is the best..."
 Deputy Headmistress - Professor Tatiana M. - was a not only hosting the activity, but she was also leading singer in the chant "We got the spirit...".

The two Honoured Professors - Professor Galina Z. and Professor Baira N. - checked the written words. Professor Galina Z. declared the results.

The winner of the 1st Round is  Dzhangar who won 13 of 15 points!

Super Password

Honesty is the best policy.

Golden Tulip

The two Houses  - Solerbi and Dragonvox - sent almost all of their members to join the Order of the Golden Tulip. Aquilori sent only five, Camencrane - three and the only one was from Saigvelo. The latter - Erdni - was the best - all the professors praised him!

Many lost, only 9 survived and earned from 5 to 20 points for their Houses.
